Welcome to The Old Co-Op Barn

Traditional Derbyshire Dales Barn conversion.

In a previous life, the Old Co-Op Barn was an agricultural store and the intention has been to preserve its authenticity in our sympathetic conversion. Each room is a visual delight and will stimulate your imagination and may even make you smile! Be prepared to take some ideas home with you…that's fine ideas are free! Take a look at the wooden ladder lighting above the double ended bath actually in the bedroom and the reclaimed pallet wood bespoke kitchen. Who would think that a dustbin lid would make a perfect light fitting? There are many more wows .. just awaiting your discovery. Completed in December 2016 the Barn is all ready for you to discover. Take a break…you deserve it!

The Barn nestles in the beautiful old limestone mining village of Brassington with walks and cycling from your door. Even if you venture no further from your woodburner than the village pub just minutes down the lane. The village is a network of paths and lanes that wind around the church and often end and one of the two village pubs. There is history to explore up hill and down dale.

Be inspired whilst you relax and unwind in delightful surroundings.

Hi All,

The Old Co-op barn is only 2 minutes' walk from the most amazing 400 year old pub and the red windows in the barn helped us find it in Brassington. The beautiful village is an old limestone mining village set into the south facing slopes looking over green pastures filled with sheep. Walking and Cycling from our barn door is so convenient and we can leave the car where it is for all our stay if we want to. Carsington water is just a couple of miles away so we may well explore that as well. So much to do and see, hope to come back again soon to explore some more.

Loving every minute ... see you soon Love Suzie xxxx.

Ps Did I tell you about the double ended bath in the bedroom and that the barn renovation has been filmed for Channel 4 TV "Big House Little House" ...exciting or what!

Good news dogs are welcome.

Double woof!

I am just lovin this place! I can take the them for a walk straight from the door and it's great to see them so happy and relaxing. Just like the old days before they got all stressed out. The best thing is they have time to take me for a proper walk and we usually end up in the pub! There are several regular hounds in the pub and I feel like a local already. I have promised to stay downstairs and keep off the furniture. Can't wait to come back and do some more explorin!

Time to pop out for a stroll down the lane…nature calls

Walkable Pubs

There are 2 local village pubs in Brassington; The Old Gate Inn is 400 years old and is amazing with good food and open fires. The reviews on TripAdvisor are excellent and it is less than five minutes' walk down the road and a very easy stagger home! Not to be missed !! It is always worth booking tel: 01629 540 448

The Miners Arms is also a great pub with large TV screen, great food and a good pint. The Miners Arms is just up the village street and well worth a visit.

There are other local pubs a 5 minute drive away such as the Knockerdown pub or the Miners Arms at Carsington. There is a nice circular walk to Carsington, note the pub does not allow dogs inside but there is a large garden.

Brassington in the Derbyshire Dales, is an attractive limestone village perched on a hillside, some 800 feet above sea level and known to the locals as `Brass`n`.
